Lionsby Elvis Shackleton - 08:49 on 19 June 2010Bruised and twisted and beaten
The giants of Europe lie shattered and bloodied
On World Cup fields.
Germany, France and Spain,
Crushed by apathy or hubris,
Wracked by pain.
But not the English Lions,
Who stride the world stage unbeaten
Majestic in defence
On their way to
World Cup Glory.
The highest paid sportsmen in
English history.
But there's no amount of money can
Buy you
A sense of perspective.

The Ball
'It's the worst ball ever,'
Said the England boss in some distress
Proving that he'd learned his English
From the English tabloid press
Yet there's no ball in the world
That will move in the right direction
When kicked by a balloon.
